snowvision for New Zealand

A New Zealander was the first on top of the world. Snowvision wants to help get more New Zealanders on top of the world.

why snowvision?

New Zealanders have had moments of glory on the international snow sport scene, but they are too few and far between for a country that has the geography and guts to qualify as an alpine nation.

Our sporadic snow sport triumphs are often more to do with luck than good planning. Imagine what could be achieved with adequate resources and management?

Snowvision aims to:

  • Establish and build a capital fund of $5 million + to provide long term support for New Zealand's snow sport athletes.
  • Create pathways that will allow New Zealand alpine teams to compete regularly, and successfully, in the northern hemisphere.
  • Oversee the creation of a new 'black on white' future, extending beyond current methods, boundaries and previous results.
  • Create an integrated global approach for New Zealand snow sports to establish the country as a unique snow sports nation and recognised winter destination in the Southern Hemisphere.
  • Build credibility, profile and reputation as a snow sports nation through international exposure of branded teams performing well and being respected on the world stage.
  • Give New Zealand's competitive snow sport teams a profile that justifies commercial investment.
  • Use our natural assets (our mountains, existing snow sports industry and infrastructure, previous results and successes) as a springboard.
  • Develop New Zealand as an international training and testing destination.
  • Bring big international events to New Zealand on a regular basis, to establish New Zealand as a global player on the snow and expose our natural assets to the world.
  • Host any event on snow that fits with the strategic direction of New Zealand as 'World Class on Snow'.
  • Create new events that will attract worldwide interest and media attention.
  • Return the rewards to New Zealand for New Zealanders.
