In June 2006, The Snowvision Foundation created youth development scholarships with the generous assistance of Sir Roy McKenzie. The Snowvision Foundation launched the McKenzie Scholarships in Wellington at an event hosted by The Hon Trevor Mallard with Sir Roy McKenzie as the Guest of Honour. Sir Roy McKenzie was part of New Zealand's first Winter Olympic Team whilst competing at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Olso, Sir Roy shot footage of the competitors in action and funds were raised from showing the film taken at these Olympics.
Snowvision's co-founder and trustee, Fiona Stevens, says that the main objective of the grants is to help nurture talented young New Zealanders involved in snow and winter activities and aid in the development and education of their physical skills, mental wellbeing and nutrition.
