New Zealand is an island nation state in the south-western
Pacific Ocean. The country consists of two major islands and a number of
smaller islands. A popular Māori name for New Zealand is Aotearoa, often
translated as The Land of the Long White Cloud. New Zealand is a parliamentary
democracy and a Commonwealth Realm.

Sir Edmund Hillary
Sir Edmund Percival Hillary, KG, ONZ, KBE (born July 20,
1919) is a New Zealand
mountaineer and explorer, most famous for the first successful climb of Mount
Everest. He reached the 29,035-foot (8850 m) summit on May 29, 1953 with
Tenzing Norgay, a Sherpa.
